Big Sky Horse Sales — 2025 Highlights & What’s New in 2026

Updated: Dec 29, 2025

As we saddle up for another year of honest horse sales, community, and growth, we want to take a moment to reflect on what 2025 brought to Big Sky Horse Sales—and share where we’re headed in 2026. Our mission hasn’t changed: bring transparency, professionalism, and real-world horsemanship to the horse-marketing space. What has changed is the size of the circle we’re building and the doors we’re opening for horsemen and horsewomen between MT to AZ.

2025: A Year of Momentum, Milestones & Meaningful Connections

Record-setting horses and strong markets

The market stayed steady in 2025, and our consignors showed up with serious quality.

  • High seller: Smart Zany Whiz — $32,000

  • Top 5 average: $26,100

  • Riding horse average: $12,850

Whether buyers were looking for a using horse, a ranch prospect, or something bred for arena success, the quality spoke for itself.

Custom events that moved the needle

In 2025, our calendar was packed with opportunity—including hosting five custom sales events for clients across the industry. One highlight was The Most Quarter Horses Hybrid Event in Ogallala, Nebraska, a showcase of good horses and good people coming together in a way only the Western world can pull off.

New responsibilities, new horizons

Last November, we officially stepped into leadership of the NILE Horse Sale that took place in Billings, MT in October, and the results reflected the trust the industry placed in us—a 30% increase in sales over the previous year. More buyers, more bids, and more confidence in quality horses finding the right homes.

Adding media & storytelling to our skill set

This year wasn’t just about selling horses—it was also about telling the stories behind them. We took on media management for the Montana Reined Cow Horse Futurity, amplifying some of the most talented horsemen and horses in the region.

And if you heard anyone ask: “What’s the least cowboy thing about you?” …yes, that was us. What started as a fun interactive activity turned into a viral, laugh-filled moment that brought the cowboy world a little closer together—proof that honesty, humor, and authenticity never go out of style.

Launching the Horses Hope & Hustle Podcast

2025 also marked the beginning of Horses Hope & Hustle, a podcast sharing the real stories from the saddle, the sale barn, and the shop—where grit, purpose, and good horses meet. This platform has already started connecting our community in ways we never expected, and we’re just getting started.

2026: Expanding Opportunities & Streamlining the Experience

As we listened to feedback and watched the market evolve, it became clear that flexibility and year-round opportunities matter more than ever. With that, we’re rolling out changes designed to serve both sellers and buyers better.

Online sales only — with a new twist

In 2026, Big Sky Horse Sales will move to online sales only, giving consignors and buyers more access without the limits of travel or timelines. We will offer a Buy-Now option that leads to bidding, giving serious buyers a way to take action fast—while still honoring the competitive market.

Introducing Cowboy Classifieds

We’re building more pathways for good horses to find great homes. This year we’re expanding our network with Cowboy Classifieds, a rider-friendly platform designed for honest listings, direct connections, and year-round visibility.

Custom events — sales and media

We are actively looking to host more custom events, whether full sales or media coverage partnerships. If you need marketing horsepower behind your brand, your stud, or your sale—we’re ready to ride with you.

Expanding Horses Hope & Hustle

Our podcast is growing, and so is the community around it. In 2026, expect:

  • more episodes

  • more guests from across the horse world

  • more conversations that balance grit, humor, honesty, and heart

Because at the end of the day, our network is built on real horse people—and we’re committed to growing it with honor and intent.

Looking Ahead

If 2025 proved anything, it’s that good horses, good people, and honest intent still matter. In 2026, we’ll keep building spaces where those values show up in the way we sell, communicate, and connect.

Thank you to the consignors who trust us, the buyers who believe in our horses, and the community who keeps showing up with support, humor, and heart.

Here’s to more good horses and great homes.

— Big Sky Horse Sales
